Sprint MiFi 2200 Receives New Firmware Update

Still remember the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 portable EV-DO router? Sprint has released a new firmware update for the device that enables the always-on mode when connected to an external power source. Here is a list of new features included in the update:

  • Nintendo DS and BlackBerry Curve supported
  • Always-on mode when plugged into a power source
  • International roaming has been perfected
  • New Admin page enhancements
  • Roaming indicator fixed
  • Sprint Only mode added
  • DHCP IP class A, B and C now supported
  • WiFi channel now defaults to “Auto”

You can upgrade both Sprint and Verizon versions of MiFi 2200. The upgrade software is currently available via the Sprint MiFi’s web-based admin page. If you are an owner of the Verizon version, then you should download the latest version of the Windows Verizon Access Manager from vzam.net (Mac version not yet available) and run the update utility.
